That Twilight State

That moment between sleep and awake..the twilight zone where the dream feels more real than what the day promises to be... where the temptation to just fall back, pull the covers over your head and go back to that sweet state of dreams is so big..

Definitely bigger than the promise of a cup of hot coffee while the noise of the headlines is screaming at you ... this has happened and that will happen....there is a crisis here and an impending disaster there...
Bigger than knowing you will be going to work to a job that you might no like anymore like you used to...
Bigger than the talk you need to have with your partner about the problems that you have... 

Oh yes...so tempting to just go back to sleep and let that crazy world go ahead without you for a few moments more....

Mom and the Elephant

Giddy with excitement she jumped out of the car...  Before her daughter could react, her mother had already crossed the road and stood in front of the elephant....  Mama..Mama.....she was yelling and weaving her way through rikshas,cars and pedestrians ...Finally joining her mom who stood mesmerized...  Mama, you can't just run like this here in Mumbai...it can be dangerous...this is not Germany...see all these cars and.... seeing her Mom with tears in her eyes her voice trailed of... Tears of happiness glistening in her eyes mom whispered: ..An elephant...I always wanted to see an elephant...and with that she turned and put her forehead against the animals trunk ... and like this they stood ....  He is telling me stories....stories of India....  And like this they kept on standing while the sun was setting and Mumbai was teaming around them...

  I keep on bumping into the sharp edges of our memories together..hoping that time will make them round and smooth and happy as we were happy... desperately wanting to look back and smile seeing you smile back at me .. holding on to my new reality, grasping for the hand of the one who loves me now.. who let's me cry and grieve for you and gives me hope and love for the new "us"...
